Believe it or not, many folks actually believe they need computers equipped with the latest and greatest Intel Pentium 4 processors inside and massive hard drives. The reality of the matter is that this is simply not true. The better majority of today's computer users run very basic software - Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, e-mailing, Internet browsing, etc. - you know the software. If you check the side of the software box, you'll notice that the manufacturer has provided you with the Minimum System Requirements that you'll need to run that software efficiently. Remember, these are the guys who wrote the software, so they aren't trying to pull a fast one on you. With the exception of a few software packages, it is rare to find any software that requires a Pentium 4 processor.

Let's put it another way - According to Microsoft, to install and use every feature of Microsoft Office Professional 2000 (2 CDs - including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Outlook, etc.), the minimum processor you'll need in your computer is a Pentium 75MHz. Microsoft's website further goes on to state that you'll need at least 391MB of available hard drive space to load every program and every feature of Office Professional. In other words, you could load both disks 20 times before you would fill up an 8GB hard drive. Another way to look at that is that you could store over 2,000 songs or digital images on that 8GB hard drive, and still have enough room for Office Professional!
